WHO IS AT RISK?

  • Patients who are overweight.
  • Patients with a genetic history of arthritis.
  • Patients with previous hip injury or disease.
  • Patients over 50 years of age.
  • Patients with very shallow or deep hip sockets.

COMMON SYMPTOMS

Hip pain symptoms tend to progress as the condition worsens.  The most common symptoms are:

  • Pain when stretching to bring the knee to the chest.
  • Pain when twisting the hip suddenly.
  • Pain in the groin area.
  • Pain around the back, front, or side of the hip.
  • Pain during intimacy.
  • Pain with sitting.
  • Painful "popping" deep inside the hip.
  • Pain when putting on shoes or socks.
  • Limited range of motion or stiffness.
