Each Friday morning at noon a group of "Prayer Warriors" meet to pray for
the patients at Emory-Adventist Hospital. Hospital president, Dennis Kiley
explains the significance of this type of ministry: "Our hospital slogan is
'PEOPLE WHO CARE. A MISSION THAT MATTERS.' With that in mind, some of our
employees realized that in order to care for the 'whole' person, they needed to
be concerned about a patient's spiritual and emotional health, as well as the
patient's physical recovery. Prayer is a mighty force; our warriors know that!"
The format for the group is to sing for a few minutes and then break into small
groups. The patient roster is divided up and each patient is lifted up in
prayer. Confidentiality is always maintained. Patients are referred to by first
name only.
